NEW GADGETS!

GiiNii are going to have a winner on their hands with the Movit. A portable internet tablet with a decent screen and excellent software should be a no-brainer anyway and using Android only increases it’s geek cred.
I’d like to be able to talk about the slick user interface, the responsive web browser etc etc. and indeed things were going well. Then after a reboot it powered itself off and resolutely refused to turn on again. Hopefully they have more than one at the show…
Battery problem? Overheated? Who knows - Luckily it is still pre-production so I presume they’ll iron the kinks out of it before it ships. Meanwhile you can drool over the screenshots at
Gizmodo.

I remember a time when Maxell made some of the finest VHS tapes on the market. Maxell has obviously needed to make changes in order to stay in business. Maxell is now making many other products including iPod accessories, including three different types of headphones.
The first are the M&M’s headphones that have the image of the popular candy on each ear. These will be available in five colors including red, pink, blue, orange, and white. To celebrate this product’s release, four guys in giant M&M cosutmes hung around the Maxell booth at CES. It was a nice touch.
The second is the Action Sports Headphones, which is everything that the name implies. These are headphones designed for the extreme or even non-extreme sports person. They are designed to withstand a lot of sweat, and can filter out unwanted sound.
The third is the Kid’s Safe Headphones and Ear Clips. These are designed with the little ones in mind, with a limited volume control so children will not play their tunes too loud. They also come in bright colors that we believe the children will appreciate. (I guess kids like bright colors, right?)

Hold to the belief that the coolest gadgets are probably the ones that we do not know about. I met with a lot of big names at CES today like Panasonic, Samsung, and Pioneer, but one of the most amazing devices that I found was the Cywee.
The Cywee is a combination of a motion control mouse like the
Logitech MX Air and a gun controller for video games. It connects to a PC by plugging in a wireless USB key. From there, the user can have a more realistic first person shooter experience using the trigger underneath. The rest of the control is all about motion, and if the user holds it at each end, it works like the controls for Mario Cart for the Wii.

Ohmetric will be launching this neat 3 in one power adapter later this year. It powers laptops and phones with dedicated adapters and there’s a USB port for iPods etc.
The whole thing winds up into a small package for travel and comes with adapters for 20 different types of power connector so you should be able to find something to fit your toys.
The only downside is the price - estimated retail price is around the $200 mark so it’s not particularly cheap

SANA MAGKAROON AKO NG MGA GANITO!!

COMPUTER

A computer is a machine that manipulates data according to a list of instructions.
The first devices that resemble modern computers date to the mid-20th century (1940–1945), although the computer concept and various machines similar to computers existed earlier. Early electronic computers were the size of a large room, consuming as much power as several hundred modern personal computers (
PC) Modern computers are based on tiny integrated circuits and are millions to billions of times more capable while occupying a fraction of the space. Today, simple computers may be made small enough to fit into a wristwatch and be powered from a watch battery. Personal computers, in various forms, are icons of the Information Age and are what most people think of as "a computer"; however, the most common form of computer in use today is the embedded computer. Embedded computers are small, simple devices that are used to control other devices — for example, they may be found in machines ranging from fighter aircraft to industrial robots, digital cameras, and children's toys.

PARTS OF A COMPUTER

Visual display unit, a device that displays images generated by a computer
Monitor (synchronization), an approach to synchronize two or more computer tasks that use a shared resource
Foldback (sound engineering), the use of rear-facing speakers on stage during a music performance
Machine code monitor, software allowing users to view or change memory locations on a computer
Medical monitor, automated medical device that senses and displays a patient's vital signs
Studio monitor, a loudspeaker designed for audio production applications
Supervisory control, a system that measures or controls data
Video monitor, a device that displays output from a video-generating device
Virtual Machine Monitor, software which virtualizes a computer hardware platform, allowing multiple system images to run simultaneously.

A central processing unit (CPU) is a machine that can execute computer programs. This broad definition can easily be applied to many early computers that existed long before the term "CPU" ever came into widespread usage.

In computing, a keyboard is an input device, partially modeled after the typewriter keyboard, which uses an arrangement of buttons or keys, which act as electronic switches. A keyboard typically has characters engraved or printed on the keys and each press of a key typically corresponds to a single written symbol. However, to produce some symbols requires pressing and holding several keys simultaneously or in sequence. While most keyboard keys produce letters, numbers or signs (characters), other keys or simultaneous key presses can produce actions or computer commands.

In computing, a mouse (plural mice, mouse devices, or mouses) is a pointing device that functions by detecting two-dimensional motion relative to its supporting surface. Physically, a mouse consists of an object held under one of the user's hands, with one or more buttons. It sometimes features other elements, such as "wheels", which allow the user to perform various system-dependent operations, or extra buttons or features can add more control or dimensional input. The mouse's motion typically translates into the motion of a pointer on a display, which allows for fine control of a Graphical User Interface.

LAPTOPS

A laptop computer, also known as a notebook computer, is a small personal computer designed for mobile use. A laptop integrates all of the typical components of a desktop computer, including a display, a keyboard, a pointing device (a touchpad, also known as a trackpad, or a pointing stick) and a battery into a single portable unit. The rechargeable battery is charged from an AC/DC adapter and has enough capacity to power the laptop for several hours.
A laptop is usually shaped like a large
notebook with thickness of 0.7–1.5 inches (18–38 mm) and dimensions ranging from 10x8 inches (27x22cm, 13" display) to 15x11 inches (39x28cm, 17" display) and up. Modern laptops weigh 3 to 12 pounds (1.4 to 5.4 kg), and some older laptops were even heavier. Most laptops are designed in the flip form factor to protect the screen and the keyboard when closed.
